Babylon’s Peak Shiraz / Carignan 2021 is a bold and expressive red blend crafted in the Swartland region, an area known for its dry-farmed bush vines and exceptional Rhône-style wines.
The blend marries the rich, peppery spice and dark fruit of Shiraz with the structure and earthy depth of Carignan, producing a wine of great balance and intensity.
It captures the rugged beauty of Swartland with both freshness and concentration, offering immediate drinkability and ageing potential.

Production Notes
The vineyards are situated on granite slopes and cultivated under dryland conditions, yielding small, concentrated berries. Grapes are hand-harvested, destemmed, and cold-macerated before fermentation in open-top tanks at moderate temperatures. Gentle punch-downs preserve fruit integrity and tannin finesse. After fermentation, the wine undergoes malolactic conversion and matures for approximately twelve months in seasoned French oak barrels, allowing the components to integrate harmoniously before bottling.
Tasting Notes
Aromas of blackberries, cracked black pepper, smoked meat, and subtle mocha rise from the glass. The palate reveals ripe dark fruit, spice, and hints of chocolate, supported by polished tannins and balanced acidity. The texture is smooth and generous, with a long, savoury finish showing traces of oak and spice.
Food Pairings
Ideal with grilled lamb, braised beef, venison, or slow-cooked stews. It also complements rich pasta dishes, barbecue, and hard cheeses such as Manchego or aged cheddar.

We offer free next-day delivery on all UK Mainland orders over £150. For orders under £150, a delivery fee of £10 applies. We also deliver to Northern Ireland, the Highlands, Scottish Isles, and the Scilly Isles for £12, and to the Isle of Man for £20. Orders are dispatched Wednesday to Friday, with cheese orders specifically dispatched on Wednesday and Thursday.
Yes, we offer a Click & Collect service. Orders will be ready for collection one hour after placing the order. You can collect from our shop in Bromley Cross, Bolton, Wednesday to Sunday during our opening hours (Turton Wines).
You can return items within 30 days of purchase if they are unused and in the same condition as received, including original packaging. However, certain items like perishable goods and gift cards are non-returnable. Refunds will be processed once the returned item is inspected and approved.
