This wine is a modern expression of Xinomavro, one of Greece’s most noble red grape varieties, often compared to Nebbiolo for its tannic structure and ageing potential.
Produced by Oenops Wines, founded by Nikos Karatzas, it reflects a new-wave, terroir-driven style of Greek winemaking.
The 2023 vintage combines bright fruit, elegant tannins, and a savoury edge, offering both approachability in youth and potential for ageing.

Production Notes
Sourced from carefully selected high-altitude vineyards in Naoussa and Amyndeon. Grapes are harvested by hand, then vinified with minimal intervention. Fermentation is spontaneous with indigenous yeasts, using a mix of stainless steel, concrete, and amphora vessels to emphasise freshness and purity. Ageing occurs in neutral oak and amphorae to soften tannins while maintaining varietal character and energy.
Tasting Notes
Medium ruby with garnet hues. Aromas of sun-dried tomato, red cherry, strawberry, violets, and Mediterranean herbs, with earthy undertones. Medium-bodied with firm yet refined tannins. Flavours of red fruits, savoury tomato leaf, spice, and minerality. Long and structured, with freshness and elegant persistence.
Food Pairings
Excellent with lamb, braised meats, tomato-based Mediterranean dishes, moussaka, grilled aubergines, and hard cheeses. With age, it pairs beautifully with game and more complex stews.

We offer free next-day delivery on all UK Mainland orders over £150. For orders under £150, a delivery fee of £10 applies. We also deliver to Northern Ireland, the Highlands, Scottish Isles, and the Scilly Isles for £12, and to the Isle of Man for £20. Orders are dispatched Wednesday to Friday, with cheese orders specifically dispatched on Wednesday and Thursday.
Yes, we offer a Click & Collect service. Orders will be ready for collection one hour after placing the order. You can collect from our shop in Bromley Cross, Bolton, Wednesday to Sunday during our opening hours (Turton Wines).
You can return items within 30 days of purchase if they are unused and in the same condition as received, including original packaging. However, certain items like perishable goods and gift cards are non-returnable. Refunds will be processed once the returned item is inspected and approved.
